This team brought a twist to my mundane Sunday afternoon, with no doubt, needless to say, they were the Champions of the Singapore Dragon Boat Festival of the year 2011.
That wasn't my main point, what matters was that they brought sweet revenge and victory back.
I remember how excited I was to see my boyfriend and his team row at the bedok reservoir, because I've heard a lot of behind the scene stories and I know only that GOLD medal would suffice, only that gold cookie was enough to feed the pride of these men, only that would bring them to tears.. and in this case I mean tears of joy.
These guys trained so hard your imagination can barely visualize, their motivational talks are so inspiring that I want to sit in every debrief sessions..
"Remember, to be a champion, you don't start off with a champion"
They could afford to say this because we all know what shit they went through..
"Just remember, if we don't win THEN WHAT'S NEXT?"
It was a question with no answer to it and only actions could prove everything.. because losing wasn't an option for them..
"Today, you all are champions, but tomorrow you'll will be back to NOTHING"
These guys are too cool...
THAT "YAY"
Just remember, every stroke counts, every stroke brings you further away from your opponents
Now we know what's tears of joy
look at how victory could turn monstrous men into childish animals :)
